How to do a Screen Capture
The Colorful Fluid Mixing Gallery
Windows
Nice screen capture software for Windows is CaptureEze Pro. This software also allows you to do some image manipulation.
Without installing additional software, under Windows one can do a screen capture as follows:
- Alt-PrintScrn (press the Alt key and simultaneously press the PrintScrn key) will capture the contents of the active window and place that on the clipboard.
- Ctrl-PrintScrn (press the Ctrl key and simultaneously press the PrintScrn key) will capture the contents of the whole screen and place that on the clipboard.
Next, you can open any standard Windows program, e.g. Word, WordPerfect, PowerPoint, Excel, Quattro, and pretty much all graphics editors and select Edit - Paste to paste this into your program.
If you wish to save it to a bitmap file you can do Start - Programs - Accessories - Paint, select Edit - Paste, and then File - Save As to save the screen or windows contents to a file.
Unix
Under Unix one can use the "xwd" command to capture a screenshot or the contents of a graphics window. You may want to read the manual pages first: "man xwd"
