The Colorful Fluid Mixing Gallery

These images show the result of a simulation of blending in a stirred vessel. The vessel is equipped with a down pumping high efficiency impeller. At time 0 the two water-like fluids are stratified. The images show the concentration field after 4, 10 and 20 seconds. The simulation showed that the fluids were fully mixed after about a minute, which agreed well with experimental data.
