2004 Mascoma Spring Laser Regatta

Shaker Village Sailing Club, Enfield , NH

The Shaker Village Sailing Club hosted the annual Mascoma Spring Laser Regatta on Saturday, May 15. Seventeen Laser sailors from all over New England competed in a series of eight races. It felt like summer with temperatures in the 80s, but the COLD water coupled with a very brisk, gusty west wind made for some challenging conditions. Peter Follansbee and Tim McKegney were both in fine form, alternating 1sts & 2nds; a late-day push by Peter gave him the Mascoma championship (once again!), just 2 points ahead of Tim. Local sailor Chris Ross enjoyed his first regatta in many months, finishing a strong third; a few points back were masters Bill Brangiforte, Ken Luczynski and Gary Orkney. And we were especially pleased that newly-wed Nat Cook rushed back from his honeymoon to come race with us-! Rumor has it he left the regatta with a new Laser -?? 

Many thanks to the SVSC folks for running the regatta: Bill Fontaine and Tom Bubolz were Race Committee, Andre Bakker, Greg Fallon, Dan Mayka and Philip Rentz ran the mark/rescue boats.
