Sailing Ship

The Colorful Fluid Mixing Gallery

Previous |  Home  |  Next

This simulation shows the flow field around a traditional sailing ship.
The wind comes from behind the ship and the sails. Color indicates air pressure.
Pressure is high behind the sails and drops in front of the sails, propelling the ship forward.
Large recirculation zones form in front of the sails.
CFD simulation with Ansys Fluent and visualization with Ansys CFD-Post.
